Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, primarily known for its objective of scoring goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch, with goals at either end. Football is governed by the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). Matches typically consist of two halves of 45 minutes each, with a half-time interval.

The game is characterized by various skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending, and can be played on various surfaces, including grass and artificial turf. The most widely recognized and popular form of football globally is association football, known in the United States and Canada as soccer. However, the term “football” can also refer to various other codes of football, such as American football and rugby football, which have different rules and gameplay. Football’s immense popularity makes it one of the most followed sports worldwide, culminating in major international competitions like the FIFA World Cup.
